Life in itself is a challenge,
Women who have the support of a husband still face many challenges,
How much more is it when a woman has to make this journey all on her own.
A single mum doesn’t just have responsibility for her own welfare only, she also has a child or some children who depend on her for their every need. So, she must work extra hard in order to meet with the demands of her family;doing both the job of a woman and that of a man in the family.
In addition to all these, in many places, she also bears the stigma of the single mum: Some call her wicked for driving her husband away while others call her weak for her inability to keep her man, they blame her for everything.
Some widows have even been accused of being responsible for their husband’s death; what a burden to bear!!
Despite all of these emotional burdens, she is expected to work hard enough to take care of the physical, emotional, financial and spiritual needs of her child/children all on her own. IT BREAKS MY HEART.
I am not trying to say that all woman are good or that some are not guilty as charged, i am here to advocate for the innocent.
A woman’s husband is like her crown of glory. She loses that when the man is out of her life. What do i mean?? Some other men try to take advantage of her, to prey on her and sometimes to toy with her already fragile emotions, SISTERS PLEASE BEWARE!!
Then comes the challenges of caring for the emotional, physical and spiritual needs of the children, this is especially challenging during the teen years. Children ask a whole lot of semi adult questions and they expect you to have ready answers, they need a lot of guidance as they make their first major transition in life, they also need explanations about the changes in their bodies….how much can a woman explain to a teenage boy? I respect some of my friends who have been very successful in doing this. One of them told me that the man may not be there but God is always there.
