Friends, Please allow me to digress a bit.
I am not a politician, in fact i am completely neutral when it comes to politics in all forms.
This post however is dedicated to a noble friend. Dear noble friend, i hope you get to read this.
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act aka Obamacare is actually a federal statute that was signed into law in the United States by President Barack Obama on march 23rd 2010. It is also called the Federal Health Care Law.
While i do not endorse any political opinion or views, i feel a need to educate, to clarify issues when ignorance, half knowledge or malice leads to the spread of unfounded rumors or the dissemination of incorrect view points or ideas. The innocent masses fall victim to these rumor peddlers and truth needs to be told by someone, anyone.
Many different people have tried to explain Obamacare in many different ways. According to my source, one popular rumor is that Obamacare is the mark of the beast, the 666. A system devised by the USA government to install chips on the foreheads and finger tips of the American people in order to gain access to their personal information viz credit cards, bank information, social security, you name it. The aim according to same source is to enable the government to control everybody and every activity….Seriously?
There has been instances of some so called men of God preaching to their congregation about the dangers of Obamacare.
My duty here is not to endorse or condemn Obamacare but rather to throw some light on the central idea of the Health Care Act.
Call it Obamacare, Health Care Act, Affordable Care Act or Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, it is still the same program. It is a Health Care Act of the federal government which primary aim is to decrease or reduce the number of Americans who do not have Health Insurance. This it plans to achieve through; Mandates, Subsidies and Tax Credits to employers and individuals in order to increase the coverage rate.
PPACA aka Obamacare requires insurance companies to cover all applicants and offer the same rates regardless of pre existing conditions or sex. It also involves the approval of the use of generic medications and the establishment of a non profit Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute to undertake comparative effectiveness research.
The proposed benefits of PPACA is a long list but let me simply say that the average American knows how important Health Insurance is and how difficult it could be not to have one. However, just like in every affair of man, there are pros and cons, supporters and opposers.
No human system is without flaws so while we wait for the creator of man to bring lasting solutions to human problems, may we be careful not to spread stories when we do not have the facts.
Can we do some research sometimes? May we not be the envoys of unfounded rumors.
